The Harpenden Society has long been involved with Harpenden Schools and local arts having organised Arts competitions for Primary and Junior Schools from 2013 -2015.

We now felt there was an opportunity to work with the 4 senior schools and give their students the chance to express their story writing skills.

We have created a concept called ‘Tell Me A Story’ which has now been launched in the 4 Senior Schools. Roundwood Park School; Sir John Lawes School, Katherine Warington School and St George’s School.

Students can choose a range of subject to write about -up to 1.500 words and submit their entries for judging by Feb 15 2021. Prizes of Book Tokens from Harpenden Books will be awarded to the winners in each of 3 age categories . Winners will be announced on  March 15.

Library Volunteers Needed

We would like to recruit one or two new volunteers to join our dedicated, hardworking team in keeping Harpenden Library open on Wednesday afternoons.

Full training is given and most volunteers work a shift approximately once a month.

An interest in libraries, in assisting library users and some basic skill with IT is essential.
